Digitize a fill
Draw a closed shape, fill it with stitches and change the stitch direction.
Draw the shape
- Open the Closed objects (fills) group in the tool rail and pick a fill tool.
- Left-click to place a corner point. Right-click to place a curve point that the outline flows smoothly through.
- Click the first point again, or press Enter, to close the shape. A fill is created with the thread colour you have selected.
Fix mistakes while drawing
- Backspace removes the last point you placed.
- Esc clears the points you have placed and stays in the tool; Esc again returns to Select.
- Space turns the last point between corner and curve.
Change the direction
Select the fill and open Properties to change the stitch angle. Choosing a direction that differs from neighbouring fills gives the finished design more definition, and a fill that runs across its shortest dimension sews with shorter stitches.
Use fills for areas. For narrow borders and letters, a satin column usually looks better.
Learn it hands-on. The in-app lesson “Your first fill” walks you through this in the real editor. Find it under Help > Lessons.
