Export to your machine

Choose the right file format, export the design and get the file onto your embroidery machine.

Pick the format

Your machine's manual lists the formats it reads. The common ones:

  • PES: Brother and Babylock home machines.
  • JEF: Janome home machines.
  • VP3: Husqvarna and Viking machines.
  • DST: Tajima and most commercial machines. It does not store thread colours, only colour-change stops.
  • EXP: Melco machines. Thread colours go to a companion file.

Export

  1. Open File > Export (Ctrl+E).
  2. Choose the format, review the options and press Export.
  3. When the export finishes, download the file. The dialog keeps a history of your exports for the design.
  4. Copy the file to the card or USB stick your machine reads, or use your machine's own transfer software.

Good to know

  • The free plan allows a few exports per month, in any format. Paid plans have no export cap.
  • On the plans that include Machines, the Send to machine dialog creates the file for a saved machine and format. It prepares a file to download; it does not push the file to the machine.
  • Sew a test on similar fabric first, and check the stitch count and size in the design before you load it.

Learn it hands-on. The in-app lesson “Export to a machine file” walks you through this in the real editor. Find it under Help > Lessons.
