Use thread charts
Pick thread colours from real manufacturer charts, or find the nearest match to a colour.
Pick a thread
- Select an object and open Properties > Thread.
- Choose a brand from the list. With the search box empty you can browse the chart in code order.
- Type a thread code, a name or part of a hex colour to filter. Type a full hex colour such as #c8102e to list the nearest colours in the chart.
- Click a swatch. The object's colour and its thread (chart, code and name) are set together.
Which charts
The catalogue has 15 charts and about 3,500 colours, from Madeira (Rayon and Polyneon), Isacord, Gunold, Floriani, Sulky, Robison-Anton (polyester and rayon), Hemingworth, and the Brother, Janome and Husqvarna machine palettes.
Colours on screen
The colours shown are approximate on-screen values. Dye lots, monitors and the way thread catches light differ, so match against a physical thread card before you buy thread for a job.
Some charts publish only codes, not names; the code is shown then.
