Add lettering

Type text, choose a font, and keep it large enough to sew cleanly.

Add text

  1. Open the Lettering group in the tool rail and choose Lettering.
  2. Click where the text should start and type. The Lettering panel opens with the text, font and size.
  3. Open the font picker: each font is shown in its own face, with a search box and category chips to narrow the list.

Size and stitch type

Every font has a recommended minimum height. If you make the text smaller than that, the panel shows a warning, because small letters can fill in or break up when sewn. The panel also tells you which stitch type the font uses at the current size.

When a logo has small text, rebuild it as lettering in a font that is close to it rather than tracing it: lettering is tuned for the size.

Edit later

Select the text and change the words, the font, the size or the spacing in the Lettering panel. It stays live text until you convert it.

Learn it hands-on. The in-app lesson “Lettering” walks you through this in the real editor. Find it under Help > Lessons.
